Casey Martin is a founding partner of JVAM. Based in Buena Vista, Casey oversees the firm’s Arkansas River Valley practice representing clients from Leadville to Lamar. He primarily focuses on rural electric utilities, real estate, general business, and land use matters. He acts as general counsel to rural electric associations and understands the unique issues impacting electricity generation, transmission, and distribution in the State of Colorado. Casey also represents broadband providers bringing critical high-speed internet access to rural Colorado. As a former bell captain and housekeeping manager at a top-notch historic hotel in Aspen, Casey also has a special interest in the hospitality and resort industries. He counsels hotels, hospitality consultants, breweries, distilleries, restaurants and franchisees as they navigate the complex issues specific to their businesses. Casey has significant experience representing established businesses in merger and acquisition transactions, and counseling entrepreneurs as they set out to make their dreams a reality.
Prior to launching JVAM, Casey Martin developed his practice at multi-national law firms in Kansas City, Missouri. He also has a strong interest in public service, election law and voting rights having served as an Americorps*VISTA volunteer, and as the governor-appointed chairman of the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners.
Casey enjoys getting outside as often as possible and embarrassing his wife and three boys at local ski areas with his ancient telemark gear and corduroy ski knickers. He’s also a perennial youth baseball and basketball coach dedicated to getting kids hooked on the best games ever invented.
