Tag Mosholder

Associate

Tag is a litigation specialist with a primary focus on real property and construction law. Within these disciplines, he handles a broad range of matters, including property and easement disputes, quiet title actions, state and municipal zoning issues, claims under the Colorado Construction Defect Action Reform Act (CDARA), mechanic’s liens, and forcible entry and detainer cases.

Tag approaches each matter with the goal of maximizing value for his clients. He does this by carefully evaluating the strength of the evidence relative to the claims and making informed assessments about potential outcomes, always weighing risks against rewards. While litigation is sometimes unavoidable, Tag prioritizes practical, strategic resolutions and works to avoid unnecessary litigation whenever possible.

He is equally skilled in negotiating favorable settlements and, when necessary, advocating for his clients in court. Before joining JVAM, Tag served as a Deputy District Attorney for the City and County of Denver, including in the Organized Crime Unit. He brings with him extensive trial experience, having tried nearly thirty jury cases—ranging from traffic and DUI offenses to first-degree murder. On a case-by-case basis, he continues to accept select criminal defense matters.

Tag earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2019, where he served as the Production Editor for Volume 89 of the Colorado Law Review. His academic focus included environmental and energy law, with particular attention to legal challenges in the American West. As a summer law clerk to an administrative law judge at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, Tag assisted with a statewide electricity ratemaking case. He later published a piece in the Colorado Law Review’s online forum, offering a critical perspective on prison telephone regulation and proposing a public-utility-style model.

Before attending law school, Tag spent three years teaching literature at an underserved high school in inner-city Denver. Outside of the office, he’s an avid outdoorsman, devoted father, and a die-hard Auburn sports fan. He is also—perhaps most importantly—working hard to become a community superfan of Salida High School basketball.
