Legal Assistant

Legal Assistants at JVAM are part of an elite legal team. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional administrative capabilities, initiative, collegiality, and professionalism. Work will focus primarily on business and legal administrative tasks. Responsibilities
  • Performing client intakes and checking for conflict of interests.
  • General administrative tasks including organizing, filing, and coordinating for meetings and events.
  • General office management tasks including oversight of cleaning services, supply inventory, and office equipment.
  • Accepting and recording payments.
  • Drafting legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys.
  • Organizing and maintaining documents in our electronic filing system.
  • Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about matter details.
  • Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Preparing briefs, wills, contracts, real estate closing statements, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents.
Position Requirements
  • Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies preferred.
  • Registered Notary Public.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate within QuickBooks Online, Clio, Faster Law, and Microsoft Teams is ideal.
Compensation & Benefits
  • The starting salary for this position is $55,000/year. JVAM determines compensation on a variety of factors including education, experience, and location.
